Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach areas they usually can’t.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
